It Came From The South – Big Al Anderson

bigal1   Big Al is telling it like it is.  And who would know better?  Playing guitar as a small baby, rocking out in the sixites while in high school, twenty-plus years with NRBQ, and then Nashville.  Currently, he has a band called, the World Famous Headliners.  He is the Stratocaster super-hero, who can be an all-out rocker, a sweet and/or soulful singer, a good ol’ country boy from Connecticut, and a guy who can put over songs as different as, I Love Air Conditioning and Get Rhythm.

It scared a lot of people when it first hit town

They didn’t understand it, they were puttin’ it down

But it’s lasted up until today

And we’re still rockin’ around

And when they look back and try to figure it out

Where it came from and what it’s all about

It didn’t come from Outer Space

It came from the South

This is from his album, Pay Before You Pump, which also has a song that captures a time that will never come again, called Bang, Bang, Bang.  Al Anderson is a hero for us all, telling us with his lyrics and his soloing what rock and roll, in particular, and just about everything else is.

About Ted Ringer

I am a writer, artist, and listener. Great music is everywhere and has no limits. Some of it is well-orchestrated and some is short and sweet. It can spring out of a moment of deep feeling or result from long periods of development. Music is communication, inspiration, and a million other things. This blog wants to share the wealth and keep toes tapping.
